1905 年に石油が見つかり、以降発展。
1920 年代には 2 万人を超す大都市となり、
地区の建物の 90 % 以上が 1904 年 ～ 1952 年の間に建てられた。
今も残る美しい街並み。
2019年4月撮影
Sapulpa はその歴史的なルーツに誇りを持っており、
ダウンタウンの建物の多くを美しく改装したその保存と建築学的な保全への取り組みに対して、
10 の賞を受賞している。
美しく保存された街並みには多くの古い建物に描かれた芸術的な壁画が多数あり、
地区の著名な建物としては Creek County Clourthouse、Public Library などがある。
地区として 2002 年 9 月に the National Register of Historic Places に指定されているが、
地区の 2 つの建物 the Creek County Courthouse と the Berryhill Building は個別に指定されている。
