1837 年に William Emmert が建てた家で、
彼は翌年結婚し、家族とともにこの家に住んだ。
当時ここは Six Miles ( St.Louisから6 mile ) として知られている田舎で、
家は five-bay I-house、イリノイ、インディアナ、アイオワ等で人気の様式で、それで名付けられた家だった。
The Emmert-Zippel House を含む I-House は２階建で、
中心となるホールと階段でつながった各階に２部屋筒あった。

Emmert は 1881 年まで住み、家族は 1884 年に August & Elizabeth Zippel に家を売り、
Zippel 家は the Old Six Mile Historical Society が家を買って、
Museum にする 1984 年まで、その家に住んでいた。
今では Old Six Miles Museum となっている。
The National Register of Historic Places に登録されている。

南北戦争に関する品、1830 年代の家具、Native American の収集品などを展示しており、
the Old Six Mile Historical Society によって運営されている。
